Choose Your PostgreSQL Recovery Window
When available to your account, choose how far back point-in-time recovery reaches from your PostgreSQL database's Backups tab, without changing its backup schedule or restarting it.
What's changed
- Keep the default window as long as your backups, choose a shorter window, or turn point-in-time recovery off
- Shortening the window keeps your scheduled and manual backups; hourly cleanup removes only older write-ahead log no longer needed for recovery
- Turning point-in-time recovery off keeps restores to each backup and requires automated backups to stay on
- Widening the window builds up recovery history again; it cannot bring back log that was already removed
- Archiving continues with every setting, so an archiving failure can still fill the database volume; separate archiving and backup-storage quota alerts remain in place
