“Personal website on Rapids. Part dynamic, part static. Moved away from fly.io: partly to "go European" and partly to avoid supporting the AWS monopoly (fly's underlying infrastructure). Couldn't find anything exactly equivalent to fly's offering (globally-distributed Firecracker-based containers with connected volumes and TLS/TCP proxying (to allow containers to manage their own TLS certificates)). Evaluated Danube and hostim.dev, Hostim was fine and actually a bit more polished, but Danube was free vs €5/mo for two replicas of a tiny container on Hostim. Best part has been the support cycle: I report something, get a super clear response within a few hours and it's usually already fixed by then. Worst part is needing to contact support in the first place: I don't mind that the platform is new, the problem is more that it doesn't seem to be reporting errors well, if at all.”
